naming compounds
Nomenclature simply translates to naming compounds.
Compound bonds are either covalent or ionic.
Covalent bonds are NM-NM:
# first element name - #second element name + IDE
*You don't have to worry about charges when naming these.

Ionic bonds are M-NM
first element name - second element name + IDE
*Note charges
Nomenclature refers more specifically though to the compounds that have strange names that do not follow these rules.
ex: ammonium NH4+
Iodate IO3-
